Andreas Pfaltz (May 10, 1948 -, Switzerland / Basel) is an organic chemist in Switzerland, currently a Professor of Chemistry at University of Basel. Prof. Pfaltz is famous for the development of highly enantioselective hydrogenation of alkyl substituted olefins with Ir-PHOX based catalysts.

Development of PHOX and Semicorrin-type ligands and its application to asymmetric transformations.
In particular, the asymmetric reduction by the iridium-PHOX system proceeds with high enantioselectivity and high yield even for simple double bonds.
